The Kingsley Curriculum
The term “curriculum” can perhaps best be summarised as the total learning experiences provided at school and will, therefore, include social as well as intellectual learning. The aims of the school curriculum as stated in the Education Reform Act are:
“to promote the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development of pupils at the school and society; and to prepare such pupils for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of adult life”.
The School embraces these aims translating them into the most effective Learning and Teaching strategies. As far as is possible every opportunity is given for the children to learn through first hand experience. Maximum use is made of the child’s natural curiosity. The teacher guides the pupil encouraging high standards in the development of the basic skills in reading, writing and mathematics. The needs of the children growing up in a literate and increasingly technological society are of the utmost concern to the staff. Each stage of learning is carefully planned so that from simple everyday situations children progress towards abstract notions.

These overviews do not include our Coached P.E or SMSC (Social, Moral, Spiritual, Cultural) so does not give details of Religious Education coverage for example. We follow the Croydon Syllabus for Religious Education.
For all subjects but particularly for English and Maths, our curriculum is a developmental process where the elements are revisited in order to enable the children to build skills effectively.
Our KS1 Children follow the Read, Write Inc phonics and reading scheme.
Our Music curriculum in KS2 is supported by the online scheme called 'Charanga'.
